Line Inspections Underway


As part of our ongoing initiative to improve reliability, HEMC has contracted Davey Services to conduct line inspections along 550 miles of line within our service territory. These inspections will be conducted using both visual and infrared cameras by crews in trucks and on foot.


Contractor vehicles will be marked with "HEMC Contractor" signage.


Scam Targeting Spanish-speaking HEMC Members


Habersham EMC has been notified that some members have received telephone calls stating in Spanish that their power will be disconnected unless they make a payment through them or by calling a number provided.


Members should hang up at once and report the call to their local law enforcement. Do not give out any personal information.

Cleveland Office to Close Daily For Lunch

Effective Monday, February 18, 2019, the Cleveland office will close for lunch from 1 to 2 p.m. daily.

Support Needed to Bridge Georgia's Digital Divide

Georgia legislators are considering a bill, House Bill 23 sponsored by Rep. Penny Houston (R-Nashville) which allows EMCs to engage in broadband services and creates common sense cross-subsidization protections that ensure consumer protection and fair competition. 


HEMC Empowering Local Youth Through Unique Opportunities


Habersham EMC is proudly presenting opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills and further their education.  Applications for two programs are now available through our website or at our offices in Clarkesville and Cleveland - The Washington Youth Tour and the Walter Harrison Scholarship


Cantrell Appointed HEMC Board Secretary-Treasurer

During the December HEMC Board of Directors meeting, Director Dustin Hulsey expressed his desire to resign from the office of Board Secretary-Treasurer.


Right of Way Reclamation Effort Shows Benefit to Membership in Wake of Winter Storm Diego

Habersham EMC initiated a ground-to-sky right of way reclamation project in 2018. Approximately 300 miles of right of way, 20% of HEMC’s system, was completed during the first year of this five-year project.

Due to lack of cell service in some parts of our service area, some outages with crews assigned (helmets on top of the colored dot/polygon) do not provide an estimated time of restoration. Instead, they say "assessing damage". Please note that crews are there working and will provide an ETR when cell service is available.

Dec. 11, 2018 7:10 a.m. Outage Update


As of 7:10 a.m., 266 meters remained without power.


Habersham = 3

Rabun = 260

White = 3


Crews have been assigned to outages throughout the service area.


Several crews will be in Rabun County where the majority of outages remain. Challenges there are the amount of trees that have fallen and the terrain.


Please avoid downed lines and treat all as if energized.


10 p.m. Outage Update Dec. 10, 2018


As of 10 p.m., 452 meters remain without power.


At this time, two crews will work throughout the night as the others stop for a mandatory rest period to ensure their safety. They will return to service at 6 a.m.
