Winter Weather Preparations - Jan. 5, 2018

Habersham EMC anticipates system-wide peaks of electrical demand and consumption due to the forecasted frigid temperatures. The greatest contributor to these peaks is heating as auxiliary heat strips are activated and electric heat sources are used for longer periods of time.

Following a delay due to Winter Storm Benji, Habersham EMC has awarded contracts for the cleaning and lawn care services to the following companies:

Cleaning:        Appalachian Hard Surface Restoration, Cleveland, Ga

Lawn Care:     Turnerville Lawn Care, Clarkesville, Ga

Thank you to all who supplied bids for the services.

Habersham EMC Returns Capital Credits

For the 31st consecutive year, Habersham EMC (HEMC) members received capital credit checks in late November. Since 1987, HEMC has returned more than $14 million to members. This year's retirement includes the return of capital contributed by members in 1987.

Member capital is utilized for a period of time to finance electric system improvements and maintain the financial strength required by HEMC's lenders. Then it is returned, demonstrating one of the principles of our cooperative, nonprofit organization.
