HEMC Contractors Working Throughout Service Area


Currently HEMC has contractors conducting pole inspections and meter upgrades.


Contractor vehicles are marked and personnel wear uniforms with photo i.d.


Neither contractor will need to come into your home to complete their duties.

Pole Inspections


HEMC Meter Upgrades Underway


HEMC contractor, SGS, began upgrading meters in mid-eastern White County

and southwestern White County in October.


Work will continue in these areas throughout November.

Payment System Maintenance Friday 10/14/16 at 9 p.m.


HEMC will perform maintenance on the payment system tonight from 9 - 10 p.m.

Scammers Targeting Habersham EMC members


Habersham EMC has been notified that some members have received telephone calls stating their power would be disconnected immediately unless they provided a credit card number or went to a location, other than an HEMC office, to make a payment.


“Members should hang up at once and report the call to their local law enforcement,” cautions Susan Baker, Manager of Member Services. “If HEMC members have questions regarding their accounts, customer service representatives can be reached at 706-754-2114, 706-865-4362 or 800-640-6812.”

New Meters To Help HEMC Better Serve Members

Habersham EMC (HEMC) will be installing new meters over the next 18 months to increase the efficiency and reliability of our electric system. Meters, like all machines, must be replaced periodically as new technology improves efficiency.

2016 Annual Meeting Highlights


Habersham EMC held its Annual Meeting July 21 at Habersham Ninth Grade Academy in Mt. Airy.


There were 858 registered Members with approximately 2100 people in attendance. An additional 191 members voted by absentee ballot.


Attendees enjoyed activities for children, a barbecue meal and Blue Grass/Gospel music by The Watkins Family prior to the business meeting.

Pokemon Go is getting people out and about hunting for creatures with unique superpowers. There are some sites and social media posts claiming that rare Pokemon who have electrical powers can be found near electrical equipment and substations. Do not chase Pokemon in our substations!
